There are two main advantages to
keeping your Pokemon cards in order. The holographic surfaces of rare Pokemon
cards are delicate and can be easily scratched.
It is important that you keep your
Pokemon cards in good condition because this will help them maintain their
value. Some of the rare Pokemon cards out there are worth $50 and above. However,
when the card becomes blemished, it will not be worth nearly as much. The
second reason for storing your cards in an orderly fashion is that it becomes
much easier to find a specific card later on. Now you may be wondering, "What
is the best way to store my Pokemon cards?" Well here is the system that I
use to keep my Pokemon cards in order.
First off, I keep all my holographic
Pokemon cards in a sturdy, zippered binder. I first place each card in a penny
sleeve, which is just a thin plastic card holding case that costs about one
cent, and then place it into the card holding pages within the binder. I prefer
Ultra-Pro card holding pages, which hold up to 9 cards per page.
I separate my cards by type, meaning
I keep all Fire Pokemon cards together, all Water types together, etc... I like
to keep my non-holographic Pokemon cards in cardboard boxes made specifically
for storing trading cards. I keep my cards in here organized first by set, and
then within the set I organize them again by what color type the Pokemon card
is. I use index cards to make where each section starts and ends. I think a key
to keeping an organized Pokemon card collection is to put away any new cards
you receive as soon as you get them. Good luck with organizing and storing your
Pokemon card collection!
There is a wrong way and a right way
to trade Pokemon cards. Many people go about trading cards the wrong way and
frustrate the person they just traded with, or end up distraught themselves. If
you abide by the following five rules of Pokemon card trading, you will never
again be caught on the wrong side of a deal.
1. Do Not Create Elaborate Deals
By this, I mean do not trade 20 cards for 1 or 2 cards. Try to keep your trades
in ratios of 1 to 1. Some of the worst trades arise when one person has an
extraordinarily rare card and the other party offers several dozen not-so-rare
cards for it. No one is forcing you to trade your Pokemon cards. Only do
it if you feel good about the trade
The person you are trading with
should do the same. You may have forgotten that a certain card has recently
risen in value, thus making an unfair trade.
2. Trade With People the Same Age as
You
Some of the most lopsided trades I have ever seen occur when an older
individual trades with a younger person.
3. Be Happy About the Trade
Even if you have established a fair trade, if you are not content about it,
then don't do it! Only complete the trade if you are utterly pleased with the
proposed deal.
In closing, as long as you follow
those five rules of trading Pokemon cards, you should never have an issue
again. It is super simple to prevent a bad trade from occurring with this
knowledge.
